How to Make Angel Beef Casserole in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
This Crock Pot Angel Beef Casserole was an instant favorite in my house. You mix the creamy “angel” mixture together and then coat the ground beef with it. That makes up the delicious meaty layer of the casserole. Then you just top that with tater tots and let the crock pot do the work. You end up with a hearty casserole that is full of flavor. It is so yummy!
If you are looking for something to go with this amazing casserole, I highly recommend Crock Pot Green Beans. They just go really well together. If you would rather make your green beans on the stove, you can find the stove top recipe here.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs lean ground beef browned and drained
- 1/4 cup Butter melted
- 1/2 cup cooking sherry or beef broth
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 10.75 oz Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1 oz Package Italian Dressing Mix
- 32 oz frozen tater tots kept frozen
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix together everything except your ground beef and tater tots with a hand mixer or a stand mixer until well combined.
Add your cooked and drained ground beef to the cream cheese mixture and gently mix until all of your beef is well coated.
Spread out the cream cheese and beef mixture evenly in a lightly greased casserole crock pot or 6 quart crock pot.
Cover and cook on high for 2 hours, turning your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker does not cook evenly.
If browned tots are desired and your insert is broiler safe, broil on high for 3-4 minutes. (Do NOT walk away while your insert is in the broiler. Watch it constantly so that you do not burn your tater tots. They can go from perfectly golden to burnt quickly.)
